Training

Dalle Abraham holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and Diplomacy with IT from Maseno University, Kenya (2013). He has undertaken technical certifications, including Oral History of East Africa through the Open Society University Network (2020) and Ground Truthing Mega Infrastructure Environmental and Social Impacts with NAMATI (2018).

Career

Dalle has over a decade of experience in development work, project coordination, advocacy, and research in Kenya’s rangelands and pastoralist regions. He has worked with organizations such as CRDD, Rift Valley Institute, Wasafiri, and Heinrich Böll Stiftung. In recent years, Dalle has taken on consultancies focusing on advocacy campaigns, media portrayal of pastoralists, and policy-oriented research. From 2017 to 2019, he served as Programme Officer for Northern Kenya at Natural Justice, where he managed land rights programs around the LAPSSET project. Additionally, Dalle contributed to development initiatives in Marsabit County, supporting the Governor’s Strategic Delivery Unit to address project bottlenecks. His career includes working with SOS Children’s Villages to strengthen family livelihoods and conducting extensive research assistance for academics exploring state-making and security in Northern Kenya.

Research Interests

Dalle is particularly interested in themes related to land rights, environmental governance, the portrayal of pastoralist communities, and development in marginalised regions. His work reflects a deep commitment to addressing systemic challenges facing pastoralists and fostering inclusive governance.

Dalle has participated in prestigious programs such as the Debunk Barbara Acherman Fellowship (2023). He has appeared on platforms like BBC Focus on Africa, The Elephant TV, and Amref Youth in Action to discuss conflicts and development issues in Northern Kenya.

Publications

Dalle has published extensively, with notable works including “Bordering on Borana” (Chimurenga Chronic, 2015), “Negotiated Democracy and Political Legitimacy in Northern Kenya Elections” (The Elephant, 2020), and “Kenyan Digital Avatars: Cartoonification of Culture and Heritage” (The Elephant, 2023). His writings explore themes of identity, governance, and the struggles of pastoralist communities.
