Hussein is currently undertaking his MSc research at the university of Nairobi(UON), Kenya and CRDD, Kenya. He graduated with Second class honours (upper division) in BSc in Range Management from UON in 2022.
Career
Hussein is a dry land professional with over three years of experience working with county government of Isiolo and CRDD.
From Jun 2021 to April 2022, Hussein played pivotal roles at county government of Isiolo, Range Management office where he commenced his journey as a Range management intern, demonstrating his leadership in fostering natural resource management in the county. His achievements extended to putting strategies in place on sustainable way of natural resource management and building community resilience on climate variability by proposing alternative sources of livelihood ranging from bee keeping, poultry farming and fodder production. Hussein addressed of invasive species like Prosopis juliflora and native species of Acacia trees.
From May 2022 to date, Hussein is serving as a project officer at CRDD, implementing Seeds4Range project. Hussein oversee all the CRDD activities in Sololo sub-county, gives Semi-annual and annual reports, he monitored the field activities and facilitated training activities for Seeds4Range as well as InfoRange. Hussein contributed to CRDD and InfoRange research activities both in field and in reporting.
Research Interests
His research interests are in analysis of stakeholders’ knowledge and practices on rangeland governance amongst the Borana community in Marsabit county, Kenya.
