Kenrick Oduory Kizito holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and a Master’s degree in Project Planning and Management from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-Kenya). His Bachelors research focused on enhancing financial sustainability and accountability within NGOs, while Master’s thesis delved deeper into “Influence of Financial Management Practices on Financial Sustainability of NGOs in Kenya.”
He is a highly skilled finance and audit professional with extensive experience in financial/grants management, auditing, and operational efficiency. With over 10 years of experience in managing financial operations, developing risk management strategies, and leading audit teams across diverse sectors, he possess a strong background in ensuring transparency, accountability, and compliance in both the public and private sectors.
Kenrick expertise includes Financial Management & Reporting, Grants Management, Audit, Proposal Development, Monitoring & Evaluation, Capacity Assessment Governance ,Designing Customised internal controls ,Development of Finance /HR and strategic policy manuals and stakeholders engagement and training. He has dealt with donors such as USAID, EC, UNDP, DFID, EU, SIDA, NORAD among others in a way that won their confidence and ensured continued support.
Career
Kenrick currently heads Finance, Grants and Administration department at Center for Research and Development in Drylands (CRDD) .
He previously worked as Audit senior at Crowe , Finance Officer at Bridge International, and Finance trainee at Nursing Council of Kenya .
He is committed to enhancing organizational performance and sustainability through sound financial practices and continuous professional development.
Research Interest
Investigating how pastoralist communities sustain their livelihoods through traditional livestock-rearing practices, exploring their resilience to environmental shocks (e.g., droughts, floods), and examining how they adapt to changing market conditions and resource scarcity.
Analyzing the role of financial forecasting in managing cash flow and ensuring that NGO projects are financially viable and sustainable.
Investigating how NGOs can balance donor priorities with organizational mission and autonomy, ensuring financial integrity and proper use of funds.
